Featured Sculptors

Paula Yates "As a hobby, I had been exploring my creative ability since childhood, always dreaming of becoming an artist. After a long career in banking, I began to pursue sculpture. A joyful pastime has become a successful career that I love.

My collectors include individuals, corporations and museums throughout the United States, Europe and Canada.

The innocence of time remembered, when life and its pleasures were simple and playful describe my sculptures. I believe that the freedom and joyfulness of women and children at play capture the collector's heart.

I am thankful that the ability to create art provides abundance in my life. It is a dream come true."

David Turner combines wood, stone and stucco to make sculptures with an earthy, totemic presence. Freestanding, abstract works evoke human, plant and animal essences, while smaller, more intimate pieces allude to fetish and ritual objects.

David studied painting at Portland State University in Oregon and received an M.F.A. in sculpture from Mills College in Oakland, CA, where he worked with Jay de Feo, John Roloff, and Arnold Pomodoro. He has exhibited his work in the San Francisco Bay Area at Southern Exposure Gallery, the Richmond Art Center, Works San Jose, and at the Claudia Chapline Gallery in Stinson Beach.

Recent shows in the southland include "Configurations" at the Maturango Museum in Ridgecrest and "Earthy Works Now" at the High Desert Nature Museum in Yucca Valley and Copper Mountain College in Joshua Tree.
