Ron Juncal

          R. D. Juncal is the owner of Studio 2 in Carlsbad, California. Born in Washington D.C. and spending his early years in the East it was not until reaching Palos Verdes, California, a coastal peninsula outside of Los Angeles, that his artistic expressions began to take shape. Working in a variety of mediums during the 1960's he pursued his art education both in Los Angeles and at Humboldt University in Northern California. The strong images from this era combined with the influence of the natural Southern California coastal lifestyle, allow a spectrum of creative approaches. Working in acrylic, collage, oils and 3-D, Juncal uses graphic image and color to create emotion and life.

Juncal is a very outgoing personality who enjoys working with others in the creative process. He has given opportunity to young artists to work side by side with himself and the other award winning artists that make up the performance art teams. This renaissance approach of the gathering of artists combined with the development of young apprentices is a key to Juncal's philosophy and stems from his deep spiritual beliefs.

As the artistic visionary at Studio 2, Juncal has developed and coordinated various performance art pieces ranging from a 65' X 17' mural created in pastel on pavement, to work sponsored yearly in the distinguished I'Madonnari Italian Art Festival in Santa Barbara, California. His 17'x15' creations have been featured at the 1997 and 1998 Paint the Bay Festivals in San Diego, California as well as the Bella Via Festival in Valencia , Ca. These visual experiences, as well as the many others that he has designed and coordinated have given thousands of viewers the chance to see art created before them. Whether working with a team or alone his energy and creative artistic approach is reflected in each of his creations.

Mr. Juncal has been actively involved in the arts community for many years and has served as juror for the selection of public art for the City of Carlsbad, California. He has also designed and created public art pieces for both the City of Carlsbad and the City of Oceanside, California.

His work has received awards in collage, mixed media and painting categories, including the Managers Award at the Southern California Exposition, Del Mar, California. Juncal's art has been included in several galleries including The Contemporary Fine Arts Gallery, Vail, CO, The Brushworks Gallery in the Gaslamp District, San Diego, CA , the Debra Owen Gallery , San Diego Ca. and the Kruglak Gallery in Oceanside, CA and has also been displayed at such sites as the Mosconi Center in San Francisco, CA, the Oceanside Museum of Art and Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA.
