Breyer says that each year, her advanced class creates a permanent installation
as a gift for the school. “My students love creating art and love seeing their
work displayed. Our entire campus is like a gallery,” she reports. “I could
never have accomplished this year’s project without the ArtSplash grant,” states
Breyer, who also serves a volunteer at the annual chalk art and entertainment
festival. She is co-coordinator of the Family Art Carnival at the two-day event,
which takes place September 26-27, 2009 on Armada Drive in Carlsbad. The event
is billed as a community celebration for arts education. Proceeds benefit arts
and music programs in North County schools.
ArtSplash Chairperson Joni Miringoff states, “ArtSplash functions as a support
to the arts on many levels. This free, family-oriented event gives visitors a
chance to view, participate in and purchase art. Then, we give back to the
community by offering grants to local schools that enable the spirit of
creativity to continue.”
